I’m a Religious Studies and evolutionary psychology researcher based in Oulu in northern Finland. I also write for various magazines and newspapers.

I originally read Theology at Durham University, graduating in 2002. I then did a PhD in Religious Studies at Aberdeen University, which I completed in 2005. My current research examines both religion and culture in terms of evolutionary psychology, especially personality and intelligence.

My articles have appeared in a variety of newspapers and magazines including the Daily Telegraph, Times Educational Supplement and the Family Tree.

My hobbies include Indian cooking, genealogy, darts and my two children.
